Uh Oh, Locked Out! locked

Aw, Crap! Car Keys Inside!

It's a dilemma that haunts us all: you're standing outside your car, the engine is running, and you've shut yourself out. Your car keys are trapped inside, mocking you with their out-of-reach presence. You inspect your pockets, your bags, even the floor, but they're missing. Panic starts to rise.

What are you supposed to do? Your mind races through a jumble of possible solutions, from the feasible to the crazy. You consider your options, hoping for a solution.

Locked Out Again - This Time My House!

Well, wouldn't you know it? Here I am totally barred from my own house! Seems like I've become some kind of expert at this whole "getting locked out" business. A few days ago, it was my car, and now it seems to be my front door playing tricks on me. I mean, come on how am I managing to do this?

I swear, often I feel like there's a universal force out there just determined on making my life miserable. At least this time I have my phone, so hopefully someone will answer when I call a locksmith. Maybe next week I'll actually remember to leave a spare key somewhere.

My Keys Are In My Car! ...and I'm Locked Out!!!

Well, shoot, this is just great. Seems like my car is behaving like a steel coffin. I can clearly see my key fob right there in the vehicle... but I'm stuck outside.{

  • Should I check to see if a window is slightly open?
  • The fire escape would be helpful right about now.
  • I wish I had thought to bringing a spare key!

{A locksmith is probably my best bet, but|Calling a friend for help is my first move, though.

Uh Oh! Locked Out and Feeling Blue

Well, wouldn't you know it? I/Me/This writer am stuck like glue outside my car with the keys locked inside/trapped inside/confiscated by the universe. It's/They are/The situation is just fantastic/the worst/a real pickle. I double-checked all/every/each and every of the doors/entrances/exits, but my keys are gone/missing/nowhere to be found.

I've tried everything/the obvious tricks/my best Houdini act to get in, but no luck. The windows are up tight/This car is a fortress/Getting inside feels impossible.

Maybe/Perhaps/I wonder if I should call a tow truck/roadside assistance/locksmith. But/However/On the other hand, that's going to be an expensive/painful/tedious here endeavor.

{Out of Luck: Locked Myself Out of Everything!|Trapped Outside: Keys Lost Again|Feeling Foiled: Stranded Without a Key!

Well, guess/it seems/this is the end of my luck/day/run. I've managed to lock myself out/lose all access/completely shut myself out of everything! My keys are gone missing/nowhere to be found/vanished into thin air. I've checked every pocket/looked everywhere/searched high and low, but they're simply not there/totally absent/completely MIA. Now I'm stranded outside/sitting on the curb feeling defeated/faced with a major dilemma. What {am I going to do/can I possibly do/should I even try to do now?

  • {Maybe I'll call a locksmith.I should probably call a locksmith./A locksmith is definitely my best bet.
  • {Or maybe, just maybe, someone has a spare key. Hopefully someone in the neighborhood will have a spare!/That's a long shot, but worth a try.
  • {Guess it's time to learn from this mistake and never do it again.I'm definitely going to be more careful with my keys from now on./This is a lesson I won't soon forget.
